Interview with The Mascoteers, the creators of Tunnel

Tunnel is a fast paced 3D tunnel runner based around a ball, a heavily defended tunnel, and almost every defence mechanism imaginable. (The things used to defend this tunnel will blow your mind…)

If you’re a fan of 3D games that are set in colorful futuristic 3D tunnels, this is the game for you!

Read our full review here.

Today we’d like to share with you our interview with the awesome developers that brought this challenging 3D runner to the App Store and Google Play.

Before we start, we’d like to thank Marshal Shareef for participating in our interview, and for spending some of his valuable time answering our questions. Thanks Marshal.

Now without further ado our interview begins…

Ok first up, why did you decide to make Tunnel?

While one of our developers was travelling through a tunnel – he just felt the inspiration to create a 3D rotating tunnel. Instead of a car or train he thought about characters. As a sequence of our journey soon we will publish the VR version of Tunnel.

Wow, Tunnel in Virtual Reality sounds awesome! So what programming language and or software did you use when making Tunnel?

We used Unity3D. You can check out our Made With Unity profile here

Ok, here is a difficult question. What was the hardest problem you needed to overcome when developing Tunnel?

The hardest thing was to finalize the color, speed and adaption speed that a human mind can catch on the first few tries. Since it’s a fast moving game we tried to keep it fit for all ages.

Last question. Where do you get your inspiration or ideas from?

All our games are from real world experience. For instance “Swiperoo” is based on Road signs – if you play this game you will notice that signs are the things that constructed this game. Planet Surfer is built based on shooting stars. 360 Degree is from an ancient structure. We always try to reflect daily based real experiences into games so that it will become easier for people of all ages to visualize what they are playing, and what the core fun is.
