Our mini-interview with the PixelMask Team, the creators of TapBall Adventures

Did you just read our review of TapBall Adventures? If so, this is our mini interview with the amazing developer team that brought TapBall Adventures to Google Play!

For those of you who missed out on reading our original review, you can check it out here.

Although the game was filled with a number of rather new gameplay systems and controls, overall the good outweighed the bad, making TapBall Adventures a challenging little game packed with innovation!

Before we start, we’d like to thank the PixelMask Team for participating in our interview, and for spending some of their valuable time answering our questions. Thanks guys!

Now without any further ado, our interview begins.

So, how long have you made Apps or Games for?

We have several years experience in game development companies but it’s been one year since we’ve been working under the name PixelMask Games in our free time.

How many Apps or Games have you made?

This is our fourth game. We’ve created two android games previously. Those were not good because we ported our two flash games to android. We removed these two because they weren’t so good. Another one is an html5 game called “Back to the office” which is an endless floor climbing game. Back to the office is now unavailable because of our website changes. It will be added back later.

What do you use to make your apps or games?

We used Adobe AIR to port two of our flash games. The html5 game was done using Phaser JS framework.

Our new game TapBall Adventures is done in Godot Engine, which is a new open source game engine.

Ok, so tell us about TapBall Adventures!

TapBall adventures is an Android game. It is a minimalist single tap game where you guide a ball through challenging levels. The game is a mix of arcade and platformer with a little bit of a puzzle element as well. You play as a ball in each simple level where your objective is to collect a gem in order to complete the level. There are other gems in the game too but collecting those are optional. The game has around 83 levels including the hidden ones. About 60 of the 83 are normal levels which are separated in sections. These different sections add several features like rotating blocks, moving blocks, force fields, switches and doors etc. It requires a certain amount of gems to unlock these sections. Collecting those “optional gems” will help you unlock these sections.
