Roller Polar by Nitrome – Review

Ok, for those of you who couldn’t tell from the title and the app icon, Roller Polar is one of the funniest games we’ve played in quite a while.

Starting off with a very unlucky polar bear, who seems to have somehow found himself on top of a giant rolling snowball, your mission is to help the frantic little guy avoid tripping over rocks, or getting hit by massive trees the snowball picks up as it speeds down the side of a snowy mountain.

The controls you have to help him achieve this are; tap once to ‘single jump’ and tap twice to ‘double jump’- super simple!

Unlike most games, we think Roller Polar isn’t fun because of its concept, nor because of its simple controls. Personally we feel that the secret to this game’s funness comes from its sprites (“sprites” the images that make up the game). The sprites in this game look awesome!

Have you ever wondered what a horrified polar bear would look like? Well, this game has one, and it looks exactly the way you would expect one to, “ridiculous” but in an awesome way…

Together with this, you have pitch perfect sound effects making everything work together so seamlessly, there’s actually not all that much more to say about it.

If it’s “Funny Graphics” you care about, then Roller Polar has some of the funniest high quality graphics we’ve ever seen in a game.
