Muffins and Apples – An addictive game about addictive food!

Muffins and Apples is a comical 8-bit style endless runner game for Android devices. The game stars Old Man Chris, who decides to try one of these crazy new diets he’s heard about; the muffin and apple one. Muffins are fattening, and apples are the opposite. As Chris runs along, you must help him eat the perfect balance of each food, as too many of either one could end badly for Chris…

Muffins and Apples

How to play?

Chris runs along automatically, increasing speed over time. Due to his running, Chris is also constantly losing weight. The floor is littered with muffins and apples. When Chris runs into a muffin, he gets fatter. If his stomach exceeds a certain size, he dies of obesity and it’s game over.

Apples can help him lose weight, but if Chris avoids eating muffins and eats too many apples, he’ll lose too much weight and die of hunger, also resulting in a game over. By moving Chris up and down, it is the player’s job to keep Chris alive by eating and avoiding the muffins and apples as necessary.

The score is calculated differently depending on the game’s mode. The main mode’s score is based on how long you keep Chris alive, and the other modes are about eating as many muffins or apples as possible.

About – Ashley Spencer-Phillips

My name is Ashley Benjamin Spencer-Phillips and I have independently developed and published two Android games. Being both a creative person and a gamer, it seemed natural for me to start making games myself.

I am very much inspired by arcade games from the 1980s, such as Pac-Man. Games which can be played in short bursts and games about beating the high score seem to offer the most replay value and translate well into mobile gaming, so I incorporate these ideas into the games I develop.
