Jump Nuts by Affalai – Review

It’s that time of year, when excited kids jump like nuts around the living room swinging their Christmas gifts around by the ribbons. Unfortunately Jump Nuts isn’t an almighty app that will instantly calm these sorts of overly excited kids, but a game that may potentially create the need to buy a new smartphone…

Before we began testing, we were warned by the developer that this may be one of the hardest game we’d ever play. Well, he was right about that. Set in a very interesting world to say the least your mission is to help a squirrel frontflip from circle to circle as many times as possible before you miss and fall to your death! …or the ground below. The circles are suspended in mid air and quickly rotate clockwise. By tapping on the screen your squirrel will launch itself in whichever direction it is currently facing, meaning by using the rotating circles and timing your taps, you can literally launch your squirrel in any direction.

This said it is much easier to launch your little guy in the direction you don’t want rather than in the direction you do, and with the stage slowly scrolling and acting as a deadline, this simple game becomes all the more difficult and stressful…

If you like the idea of a difficult and stressful game, you should stop reading our review here. For those who don’t there is a trick. By launching your squirrel just before it reaches the top of the circle, you can more often than not get your squirrel to land on the first stage. Then by adjusting your timing based on this first reference point, you can pretty quickly get to a high score of 10 or so. If you’d like a game to beat your uncle at this Christmas, Jump Nuts may be the game to practice.
