Do you find pleasure in the simple things in life? Managing to distinguish the color green from purple normally wouldn’t be something to cheer about, but when hit with a barrage of 0.5-second life or death decisions, suddenly this simple task may not seem so simple anymore…

Balls VS Lasers (by Homa Games) is a game about two glowing neon colored orbs at the center of your screen, and a seemingly endless supply of lasers just waiting for you to slip up and GAME OVER! Luckily the game isn’t actually endless… 😅

Played by swiping on the screen of your device in order to rotate your two neon orbs, your mission in this game is to block or avoid lasers that move in toward the center of the screen by bashing it with your same colored orb. Simple enough.

At first, the game starts out sickeningly simple with slow-moving lasers and plenty of time for you to figure out which color is which, but as you progress through the game, things start to speed up, making the game “sometimes” really hard while other times pretty much just as easy as when you first started. It is kind of erratic which may or may not be a good thing depending on how you look at it.

In order to keep the gameplay manageable, Balls VS Lasers makes use of a level based gameplay system which does a great job of breaking the game down into bite-sized pieces which is great for new players, but that’s not all. In addition to a level based gameplay system, Balls VS Lasers also seems to make use of procedurally generated levels, which re-generate each time you game over!

This means that if you fail level 50 enough times, you should eventually get a level 50 that is easy enough for you to clear.

We noticed a similar sort of practice in the recently popular Stickman Hook (by Madbox) which did a similar thing only a little less in your face…

The Conclusion

Although the game does feel kind of erratic when it comes to the overall difficulty, other than that it is really quite nice with decent graphics, responsive controls, and just as many Ads as any other game in 2019.
